Kids MTB Programs
The Local Bike Coach offers kids MTB programs during the school term and school holidays, ranging from ‘Bikes After School’ (a weekly after school session that runs for six weeks) to multi-day programs that run over the school holidays. The Local Bike Coach kids MTB programs are centred around building healthy connections between kids and their bikes.
We also run private and small group coaching (weekday and weekend sessions available) and race prep programs. Contact us to find out more.
Private Coaching Sessions
From $125
1 hr - 3hr
Private coaching sessions are offered at a range of locations, including Warburton Bike Park, Silvan MTB Park in Dandenong Ranges, Lysterfield MTB Park, Lillydale Lake and many more. Contact us to arrange a session at your local trails.
If you would like to maximize descending time during our Private Coaching Session at Warburton Bike Park, we can also add a shuttle to start our session. Contact us to find out more.

Please note that the price for a 1:1 session is inclusive of travel within 30-minute drive of Warburton (which includes Silvan and Wesburn). For travel to locations outside of this radius, a travel fee may apply. Please contact us to discuss.

So we can make the most of our session together, please ensure you have the following:A safe and working off-road bicycle - it does not need to be fancy, just in good working order. Please don't hesitate to contact me prior to sessions for advice on this.
Helmet – Australian Standard Approved
Water bottle – with at least 500ml of water in it
Tools - multi-tool with chain breaker
Pump
Spare tubes
Gloves
Any medication you must carry at all times, including any emergency medication (eg, EpiPen)

Bikes After School

Bikes After School is about creating a safe, fun and inclusive environment for kids to learn valuable skills on their bikes - and hopefully make a friend or two while they're at it! The program runs for 6 weeks during school terms, and runs as a once-a-week hour to hour and a half session. We offer both an Introduction & Intermediate Program.

Intro Crew
The Intro Crew is all about getting kids aged 8+ comfortable on their bikes in a social setting, preparing them for the wonderful world of mountain biking by developing skills and techniques they can call on to ride safely and confidently.Intermediate Crew
The Intermediate Crew is for High School aged kids, who are confident mountain bike riders, but want to improve their skill on the mountain bike in a fun and supportive environment.Location
The exact meeting location of each week is TBC but will either be Wesburn Park or at another agreed location between Warburton or Wesburn.Participant numbers
Participant numbers will be capped at 6 riders to ensure safety and maximum fun! Please note that as the cost covers the full 6 weeks, no full or partial refunds will be issued if a session or sessions are missed due to illness/holidays etc. The term program will go ahead provided a minimum of four participants are registered prior to the first session.What to bring
Please ensure each child has the following for each session:A safe and working off-road bicycle - it does not need to be fancy, just in good working order. Please don't hesitate to contact me prior to sessions for advice on this. For example, a BMX (as long as it has working brakes) is fine! MTBs are encouraged but not mandatory.
A well fitted, good quality helmet that complies with Australian Standards.
A water bottle or backpack bladder (we will never be too far from water refill)

Book 2 days, or extend to 3 days to really get you going. No overnights - this is a day program only.
Whether they’re looking to smooth out tricky sections or build confidence when the trail turns steep, this program is all about strengthening your child’s connection with their bike and developing the skills to ride with control and flow.
Our friendly, qualified and experienced coaches pull back the curtain on trail technique, delivering those “lightbulb moment” tips that make riding feel easier, smoother and more fun. Designed for riders aged 12+ who are comfortable on green to blue trails (lower intermediate to intermediate), the program uses carefully selected trail networks that provide a variety of terrain — creating the perfect environment for real progression, big excitement and safe skill development.
